Life-Changing Tips as an Immigrant to Canada

Many of us are still building their own portfolio, non-stop connecting to other people, figuring out what path should be following.

As an International student who arrived in 2021, starting over in a new country (Canada) was not an easy coup.

Through the years, months, and days, I ascertained tips that would help many people and how to overcome the challenges that people may face.

Volunteering can be a way to make Friends ( Don't be afraid to try something new!)

I volunteered in almost organization and every club in my college school, and outside of school, trust me! it was definitely worth your time. You'll be amazed at how people describe their culture and how people made you realize that there are many opportunities for each of us, than staying in our comfort zone.

During my volunteer era, my focused goal was just networking, but honestly, it was more than networking, it was about interacting with other people from diverse backgrounds, which allows me to learn other perspectives.

Tip: Sharing a common interest will help you build closer relationships with those around you.

Save Money, Grocery Hack!

As an Asian (Filipino) we have our own ingredients that we use for food.

Believe me, we have our own food soul, and by this, we have to find the right ingredients that we needed for our food. In Toronto, there are lots of Asian Stores such as Filipino, Chinese, and Thai Supermarkets. These grocery stores are a great way to find ingredients for your favorite recipes that make you feel connected to your culture.

Affordable Winter Attire in Canada

We all get excited to experience the first snow! Before leaving my home country, it came to my mind to get a Winter Coat in my home country (Philippines), but, luckily I didn't do it. As my home country doesn't have Winter Season it may be terrible for me to get a Winter Jacket in the Philippines since nobody could predict the coldness in North America.

Many immigrants can make the mistake of bringing winter coats and boots from their home country as this could save money. But if you live in a country (like my country) where there is no Winter or just warm weather, the gear that you may find there can't survive the harsh Canadian Winter.

I suggest investing in good quality gear, warmth, and accessories for Winter Season! These include earmuffs, warm socks, and Winter Jacket. You don't need to get expensive and branded ones but instead, you can get good quality at an affordable price like in Walmart and Winners.

Explore what Canada has to Offer

Canada has 4 Seasons, Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. What I love about Canada is there is always an event or free event that you can attend in every Season. In Canada, hockey sports are one of the famous sports, and trust me there's more to that, there are parks, museums, and especially Festivals during Summer.

We all are working and thriving for our best, but don't forget to spend some quality time for yourself and with your friends.
